Professor Yichuan Zhao has been elected as a Fellow of the American Statistical Association. He will be recognized for his achievements during an awards ceremony for the new ASA Fellows at the 2021 Joint Statistical Meetings (JSM2021), which is the largest gathering of statisticians and data scientists held in North America and one of the largest statistical events in the world.
The American Statistical Association (ASA) is the world’s largest community of statisticians and the second-oldest continuously operating professional society in the United States. Its members serve in industry, government, and academia in more than 90 countries, advancing research and promoting sound statistical practice to inform public policy and improve human welfare. The designation of ASA Fellow has been a significant honor for nearly 100 years, and is the highest honorary grade of membership in the association. Under ASA bylaws, the Committee on Fellows can elect up to one-third of one percent of the total association membership as fellows each year. To be selected, nominees must have an established reputation and have made outstanding contributions to statistical science.
